And here’s a proper caricature…

My old mate Bill… This is from a series of cartoons that I’m currently doing of a local music bar that I frequent.

He’s a lovely guy & I think that I’ve captured his main characteristics… Do you know that he doesn’t even know that I’ve posted this!!!.. For Christ’s sake nobody tell him.

Corporate caricatures… It can be a fishy business… …

An illustrative ‘cartoon style’ which was dictated to me for a series cooporate caricatures; the pictures that you see here are from a set of big game, fresh water, fishing trips sponsored by event organisers for ‘City Boyz’ days out…

It’s a slightly different style to show, which although maybe a little stiff, static & tight looking for my actual tastes, happen to be very popular!!! And sometimes quite lucrative… So I’ll show em’

“Sufferin’ Succotash”….

I used to have license to do illustrations for Disney, Warner Bros, Cartoon Network & The Beano, many years back, for use in animation, publishing & cartoon ‘t’ shirt design… The only reason that it stopped was that I didn’t manage to move with the computerization of the industry; however, that’s resolved now!!!

Here’s one I did earlier… Our ole’ friend Daffy Duck, this is an old low res scan of a pencil drawing which I coloured in Corel Photopaint today, like it?

And here’s young Dexter from ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’, I was always fond of this pencil rough, I somehow find it a shame to have to ink these pictures.

I’d really like to do some more of this type of work… Any takers?

Right, back to the serious stuff… If you can call it that?

Here’s a couple of animation model sheets that I produced for a children’s animation series ‘Oscar’s Orchestra’… I was a chief designer on this & four other series in UK, back in the early nineties. I actually started as a character animator, but soon realised that my niche was in animation design, producing storyboards, character & prop designs plus layouts… And I’d make the tea every once in a while.

And now for something completely different… Soft pencils.

I love drawing pretty girls… Well more to the point, girls that I find interesting to look at, I was drawn (no pun intended) to this one because she’s actually got a little bit of a natural sneer, bless her.

This is non commercial stuff which I do for fun, but how do I post this type work without running the risk of alienating myself from the likes of the ‘Children’s Educational Publishers’ whome I do a lot of work for??? Any ideas anyone… Somebody help, I’m new at this.

A bit more of the current stuff…

Mr. Cobea… Designed for a Bangkok coffee chain.

I went for a vector graphic look here, but it’s actually a Scaned ink drawing which I then coloured in ‘Corel Photopaint’… I’d love to be able to produce vector graphic artwork, but alas it’s beyond me! Any tips on working with vectors from other illustrators would be gratefully received… In fact, I’ll take any tips from anyone thanks…

Just on more old advert…

Might as well get these over with, style’s admitedly a bit dated, but clients still like it… Hopefully its cycle will come back around again soon?

The carrot & banana were from a job I did years ago, redesigning the ‘Munch Bunch’ back in the UK. The doggie was a greeting card for ‘Carlton’ & the jailer was for a childrens educational book for ‘Readers Digest’… Again watercolour on hot pressed artboard… Hard to get nowdays.11
